At Ailleron, we often say that building modern technologies is one of the most important values of our company. And these are not just words – we truly mean it.
Not only do we want to build these cutting-edge and innovative technologies ourselves, but our goal is also to support young people in their passion about creating ground-breaking new unconventional technological solutions. That is why we have decided to support students from the Rzeszów University of Technology. The Legendary Rover Team is a group of seventeen students from various faculties. Among them you can find IT specialists, electronics specialists, biotechnologists and constructors. Together – with our help – they are building an innovative and modern Mars rover.
This is the sixth rover that is being built by this group. In 2015 and 2016, the Legendary Rover Team became the world champion in international races of Mars rovers built by students. The prestigious University Rover Challenge (URC) takes place at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, USA. This year, the students have the chance to win the championship again. They have implemented completely new and complex technologies.
The rover will be highly autonomous due to the introduction of artificial intelligence into the software in the form of algorithms. The Mars rover will be able to perform tasks remotely, including independently recognize objects and aim for a goal. Five cameras will provide both wide visibility for the operator and allow machine to collect an accurate picture of the area. The recorded material will be analyzed and processed by the computer.
The Legendary Rover will be designed not only for space purposes. These types of machines are also adapted to perform tasks in areas of high risk, for example in deserts, places subject to military operations, or for testing dangerous objects. In addition, the technologies implemented in the rover are also used during surgeries.
Technologies that the Legendary Rover Team uses can – just like Ailleron technologies – be useful in many areas and be adapted by many companies.
